Thanksgiving Desserts

So I think I am narrowing down the list of what to make for goodies!

I have a whole board on Pinterest JUST for Thanksgiving and Fall desserts! Find it here
I think I want to make 3 or 4 things!
We have a pretty big family and everyone likes something different. I plan to make only Fall-ish desserts but I am having a hard time narrowing it down, so I think I will go with 1 apple/fruit dessert, 1 pumpkin dessert, 1 chocolate and 1 of something else!

I know for sure I will be using my mini pie maker and making some pies, different varieties so I am not looking at any other pie stuff!

These are the apple ones I am trying to decide between

caramel apple cheesecake bars
apple slab (might be too close to pie though)

caramel stuffed apple cider cookies

these are also kinda pie ish, apples rolled in crescent rolls

Apple Blondies!

Apple cranberry crumble

Everything else is kinda all jumbled together but I need to pick a couple from

Blackberry Pie Bars

Pumpkin Whoopie Pies

Pumpkin Fudge

Pumpkin fudge with nuts

Pumpkin Dump Cake

Nutella Filled leaves

And some that are more kid friendly

I really have to decide soon!

Now that soccer is over for us I have plans this weekend to clean out the pantry and fridge to make room for the new ingredients!

Thanksgiving Dishes

I don't have the room for holiday specific dishes but some of the platters and cuteness sure make me want to find a set to match ALL of them!
We have multi colored polka dot plates that match nothing fall like or Halloween.

But I am pretty attached to them! I even have a spare box in case some break!

If we ever decide to get a plain, match everything set,
I love these
 Country Living brand at Kmart

There are soo many colors and different things for Thanksgiving I can imagine it would get overwhelming if you were just starting to get stuff together! I personally love the orange and plum colors together!
If we were hosting this year and the crazy polka dot dishes weren't an issue, this would be the first thing on my wish list if it weren't so expensive!  Maybe I can find a platter at Goodwill and do my own!

West Elm

And these are kinda charming, I like the bright orange without it coming from a pumpkin!
Cost Plus
And although I don't usually like purple at all, I don't wear purple, I don't usually buy it for Carsyn and we don't have anything else purple, I LOVE purple in the fall!

Target

These aren't very practical but they would look fantastic on Thanksgiving!
I've slowly been collecting solid white serving pieces, a random butter dish here, a little sugar bowl. I don't want everything to be too matchy matchy but it still has to work together.
One of my favorite/most used serving things is from Costco, it's a 4 tier plate stand and all 4 tiers rotate out a little so it doesn't take up too much room

Still collecting plain pieces so I can add the fun pieces as I find ones I love!
Other things I still need to decide on this week are
~what goodies we are bringing
~grocery list
~And since October was such a rough month,
I probably will try and deep clean the living room and kitchen again!

Thanksgiving Plan

woman's day
When I am planning for a get together I have a basic list of things I do,
and from 4 weeks to 3 weeks to go I try to

~ clean the fridge and pantry out and use up as much as I can so there is room once I make my grocery list.
~Decide on what recipes I will be making
~Make grocery list. Perishables and non perishables
~Start watching for the stuff to be on sale
~Make sure we have enough dishes, and none are broken or chipped
~Deep clean the main rooms we would be using (Kitchen, Family Room, Guest Bath and the Front Porch)

Starting my Thanksgiving Lists!

Since I am kinda giving up on October and any new Halloween stuff this year, I am ready to start checking out some cute treats I can make for Thanksgiving!

Of course the first place I checked was Pinterest!
I posted some last year too, might have to try some of those too!

Here are a few I am trying to decide between!

Or something similar!

I think all the acorns are so cute! A few different options out there.

Thanksgiving #20

I am soo bummed, I forgot to order these and now it's too late for this year. But I am still sharing because I hope I remember them for next year!! They are FAKE wishbones! It is such a cute idea, would be cute as a napkin holder or they sell them in bulk you could just scatter a few on the table!

Yay for the weekend!!

Thanksgiving #18 Pie cuteness!

Posting a day early since tomorrow is busy busy and I don't want to miss a day!
Yesterday I shared my favorite holiday dessert recipe. I think it's my favorite because I haven't really tried to make pies much.. I think they could easily be my favorite! One thing I like about them is how cute and themed you can make them without any extra ingredients! Check out all these cute different pie crusts. I think the extra effort on some of these makes a huge difference!

These 2 are from Country Living

This whole collection is from Martha Stewart!

Home Made Simple did these different leaves all on 1 pie!

I LOVE this braided one

This one is just too sweet!!

And check out these little crust cutters, with extra detail! From Williams Sanoma, they would make the cutting part much easier!

Thanksgiving #17, White Salad Recipe

First I will say, I have NO idea why this is called salad!
My Great Grandma used to make this recipe, I made it for the first time a few weeks ago, to make sure I didn't really mess it up. I am bringing it to the family Thanksgiving get together. That's the only time we ever had it was the holidays. Kinda nervous, but the first attempt went better than I expected!

Ingredients
4 small boxes of lemon Jello
4 cups Boiling water
1 20oz can crushed pineapple and juice
Juice and zest of 1 lemon
1 8oz package of cream cheese at room temp.
3/4 C of milk
1 C chopped pecans (or walnuts)
1 8 oz container of cool whip, thawed
2 oz pimentos (which I would, and do leave out, eww)

You need a big dish, I used a 9x13 Glass baking dish and it was almost too small, you could use 2 of those or 1 and a smaller one also.

Leave the cream cheese out so it can come to room temp, and I put the cool whip and pineapple in the fridge the night before.

~Boil 4 Cups of water
~empty the 4 Jello packages into a big bowl (Pyrex or another that won't shatter from hot and cold temps)
stir until the jello is dissolved.
~Add the can of pineapple and juice
~Add lemon zest and lemon juice

~Put jello mix in the fridge until it cools but not set, you want it to stay liquid at this point
~While it is cooling, combine your room temperature cream cheese and 3/4C milk until smooth (mine took about 2 minutes in mixer at med-high speed)

~Add cream cheese mix to jello, mix well and then pour into your dish

~Refrigerate for about 30 minutes
~While it is chilling combine your pecans, pimento's (if you use them) and cool whip
~Gently fold the cool whip mixture into the jello cream cheese mixture and let refrigerate an hour

That's it! It's not terribly difficult just time between each step!
