St.Patricks Day Muffins

Since it's on a Saturday this year, I can do a little more than usual with fun eats. But I don't love all the dye in stuff to make it green. So today I tried an alternate hoping the fam wouldn't even guess it wasn't dye!

And they look better than dye colored ones, and they are full of SPINACH! You can't taste the spinach in these banana nut muffins because the bananas really overpower the spinach taste!
I just used my regular banana bread recipe but blended about 2 1/2-3 cups of spinach in with the liquids before I added them to the dry mix!
Def on the list of things to make Saturday!

I also picked up some cute straws with orange mustaches for the kids for Saturday!

St.Patricks Day Planning

Just about time to start planning for March 17th! I am kinda glad it's a Saturday this year, I don't have to rush in the morning so we can do some fun morning stuff with breakfast!

Here are some of the goodies and stuff we have done the last few years
I do this just about every year, hoping I can find the cloud marshmallows again!
and we use vanilla yogurt to dip in

And the kids like to take green baths with these

Rainbow yogurts, or I have seen these done with pudding too!

And these are so cute (and yummy) Potato Candy
Recipe HERE

We have made these in the past too,
family fun

I seriously LOVE how cute these Ice Cream "Baked Potatoes" are!
Super easy to make too, you could d small ones, or one bigger one for everyone to share!

I haven't decided if we will try some new stuff this year or just make some of our faves!

St.Patricks Day Decorations

Not completely done and I definitely need to come up with some more,
but I wanted to share what I have so far!

I don't like to do everything overboard holiday, sometimes it's just the color I like and the color is enough!
Here is the kitchen stuff

Love this little nobby bowl! Planning on making the Potato Candy to put in it!
Just picked up these adorable glasses at IKEA. They always have the cutes stuff!

I don't have a lot of other stuff
Some green candles, and mossy birds

 Little leprechaun
Some subway art (which I need to find more of)
the burlap and scrapbook embellishment clover I made last year (wow that is a bad photo)
Just a tiny bit of rainbow

I think I need to pull out one of the white boas for the mantle too!

What do you all do? Making anything new this year?

And in case I couldn't find anything else to do (yeah right)
I scored this stack of 80's Better Homes and Gardens for $3, should give me some distraction for a while!

St.Patricks Day Wreath

I am just starting to pull stuff out and see what I have, seeing things I totally forgot about!
I knew I needed another wreath. I didn't want to spend any money. But I did end up spending $1 on a wreath at Dollar Tree. Everything else I already had. It's not perfect but it's good enough.

I am trying to learn that good enough is better than not at all. I struggle with being a perfectionist and so a lot of things I want to do just don't ever get finished cause I can't get them exactly the way I want.

I got up on time today so I am already done with chores today. Hoping to get some more crafting done and work on St.Patricks Day stuff out!

Hope you are all having a great Fat Tuesday!

I did this last year and hope it made it the year in storage!
Check out the details and how to HERE :)

I'm getting the decorations out next week!

Happy St.Patrick's Day!

Hope you all have a great St.Patrick's Day and avoid the pinchies!
We are busy busy delivering some of these

And following the leprechaun trail hunting for these

And since I'm sure the kids will be ready for a snack after that, Ive got this all ready!

And then hopefully a nap!

If it's not pouring down rain I think we will plants the rest of our bulbs in the backyard and let these kids get dirty! And maybe some coloring.. I printed these off

Hopefully the coloring will keep them occupied so I can make dinner! We are having potato soup for dinner, only because I found these adorable little potatoes at our tiny little grocery store, they were too cute not to use!

And then I think the littles will take a green bath, the hopefully fall asleep easily!

Who's ready for April Fools Day? 2 weeks to plan!

~Rainbow Yogurt~

or you could use pudding!
I just split a few containers up and colored them, used a Ziploc baggie to fill up my favorite Jelly Jar Glasses!
I'll probably give them a little cloud marshmallow on top!

The kids are WAY too excited about St.Patrick's Day and they haven't even seen these yet! I have so much stuff planned I have to split it up into 2 days!

St.Patrick's Day

Is only a few days away and we have a busy week, so I am prepping what I can now!
One thing that is new this year is Ramsey's obsession with Elf on a Shelf.. so much that when I put a little leprechaun out he asked if he was watching him to make sure he was good.. Like I am going to turn down an opportunity like that!  So we said yes of course!  The last few years we have had the kids decorate a baby food jar and leave it out for the leprechauns with a card. This year we are doing it a little different. We told them the leprechauns only come to visit if you have been very good!  I picked up a container of pots like these

and I have some gold chocolate coins to put in them, we hide them in the front yard and sprinkle a trail of St.Patrick's Day confetti to kind of lead them the right way! As soon as they turned the calendar to March in school he has been asking when the leprechauns are coming. Love that he remembers and enjoys it!

And I made a small batch of the potato candies I shared HERE, just to try them out. What I did different was only use about 1/2C (for the half batch) of toasted coconut and I used 1 1/4C of chopped walnuts and added 1/3C powdered sure more than the original recipe. They are pretty cute! Sending some for the teachers this week! This is the ones from last week, cute right?!

And I picked up all our fruit for the rainbow the kids LOVE! This year instead of just yogurt I will give them some of the cute cloud marshmallows too! I don't have a picture from last year (thank you strep throat medications) But pretty similar to this, minus marshmallows, yogurt instead!

And if I remember a grocery store stop for some white carnations to turn green over night, we haven't tried this yet but I think our kids would love it!

And we made these rainbow cupcakes from Family Fun last year.. but I think the potato candies are plenty of sugar!

And if we get up early enough I might make these for breakfast!

Hope you all have a good St. Patrick's Day!  Have anything special planned?

Spring Cleaning { Family Room} and Some Sweet Little Treats

I finished the kitchen already (we had a snow day and a mellow week) I am hoping to get started on the Family Room (and play area). I will be hunting for some supplies this weekend! The play area is just not working, the older the littlest gets the more stuff there is!
This is how we started, it was alright but the shoes are too much and all over! And the kids need somewhere for papers that little brother can't get to as easily (he likes to throw them away)!
I've got a couple projects I am working on for that little area!
Looking for some art options and shoe storage!!

There are lots of other things I need to do too for Spring Cleaning!
My Family Room list is just a little shorter than the kitchen!

~Wash Curtains, throws and swap pillows
~Clean off the ceiling fan
~Clean Glass on Frames
~Swap Pictures in Frames
~Clean Windows and tracks
~Turn off pilot on fireplace (might wait on this since it snowed this morning!)
~Clean Fireplace
~Dust the Electronics (especially the back)
~Clean out the couch cushions (can hardly wait to see what's in there!)
~Clean the couch cushion covers
~Clean Walls
~Vacuum Floor Vents
~Clean Baseboards
~Touch Up Wall Paint
~Clean Rug

Play Area

~Go through toys
~Go through books
~Sort toys

I love this, but I have a Target budget :)

So that is what I have going on next week!
And I want to make these from Feels Like Home!!
I think I might change the recipe a little though and skip the coconut and use a different nut!

How cute are those?!

Anyone else starting their Spring Cleaning?!

Mini Rainbow Penant Banner

While I SHOULD have been cleaning (or organizing) I wasn't! I just couldn't find anything for the fireplace and I wanted some rainbow stuff for St. Patrick's Day!

I guess I did get a little organizing done though while I did this, I went through some of my paper and recycled a bunch of scraps, that makes me feel a little better!

All I did was scrounge through my paper and found the red, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple I needed, for some I used cards (that made it SO easy!)

Then I made 1 triangle about the size I wanted then traced it, and flipped it over lining the short sides up together to make a diamondish shape, then I cut that out (in a color I wasn't using, didn't want to mix it up).

I just used that to trace out 4 of each color (I only used 3 but I have an extra of every color just in case a kiddo gets to it)

Now I would have loved to use the cute colored twine but I don't have any, so I just went through my ribbon stash and picked the one that looked the most like a sky color to me.

Oh and I used the little chalk pads on the edges because I didn't want it to look too  perfect!

Then I just used some glue stick and went in order and stuck the ribbon down, then folded them over. If I had some of those big puffy pompoms in white I think I would have added those either in between or for sure on the ends, like little clouds!

Cute Little St. Patrick's Day Craft

I got the idea from a girlfriend, but she used buttons and some scrap booking paper. I used burlap and some scrap booking embellishments, I needed the burlap because the flowers were pretty darn girly and I try to keep it as non overboard fluffy as I can around here!
Cute right?!  All I did was use a cookie cutter in the shape of a clover and set it on the burlap (I also put a piece of cardboard under in case the hot glue went through) Then I just stuck a little hot glue on the bottom of each little rose and pushed it down, smooshing it into the cutter as much as I could to try and get the shape! Once I was done I just took the cookie cutter off and this is what was left, then I just the burlap out with the clover centered big enough to cover the frame backing. I didn't use the glass since the little roses stick out pretty far!

It didn't take too long and wasn't too much since everything was on sale!
