Organizing Friday {Week 12}

I didn't get last weeks task all the way done.

Before

After

I don't really know what to do in here, we got rid of so much of the kids bathroom stuff, in anticipation of not having 2 bathrooms, that there really just isn't much to organize.
I moved the beach and pool towels out to the garage with the life jackets and other summer stuff.

Just needed a space for
TP
Towels and washcloths
We really kept all of their towels to the bare minimum so they don't take a lot of room.

We didn't unpack the decorations because it just hasn't happened and this bathroom isn't really conducive to it either.

I do want to grab a couple of baskets for the shelving so I can start stocking up on necessities again, while keeping them pretty. Looking for some deals. When I am on the hunt I put the measurements of the shelf or area in my phone so I don't have to worry about buying something and it not fitting.

The extra bedding was just that, extra. We have been in this house 5 1/2 months and yet to need them. I donated all but 1 extra and there was plenty of room to keep it with the rest of the kids stuff in their closets.

We are heading out for a mini vacation, when we get back I am sure I will find another area that needs some attention. It's Spring Break here, what are y'all doing for Spring Break?

52 Weeks of Organizing~Week 17

Last week I made sure all of our vitamins and medicine were not expired and that we had the items we use often. We were out of some and had some expired. Looks like I checked just in time, there is a whole lot of coughing and sneezing going on! Thanks allergies!

This week is bathrooms.. Yikes!
I know there are some towels that have seen better days and I am scared to see what the kids have hoarded in their bathroom drawers!

I try to keep bathroom stuff to a minimum, clearly I failed!
Empty boxes, stuff I haven't used in months and 3 different dry shampoo's. Time to tidy it up and be real about what I use and ditch the rest.
I am sure the other bathroom's will have similar changes coming up! It's beautiful weather here, I am working on getting up earlier again, now that I am not AS exhausted. This bathroom organizing will have to be a morning thing, we are enjoying the sunshine!

Bathroom Update Sneak

I am having a really hard time finding what I am looking for! I knew there would be some things I would need to make anyway, thought I would share 1 little sneak.
It's backwards cause I had to take it from the mirror ; )
And yes I did re use this from Finnleys lumberjack party!

But I had to make 2 more for the big ones

Upcoming Project!

I shared a little bit of our kids bathroom a couple years ago HERE
when we hubby added the bead board and pegs. Then the subway art I did HERE
I am pretty much not loving the look in there, it doesn't match our kids personalities or the rest of the house, and it's a little on the feminine side. I kept trying to add the darker colors and stripes but I am still just not loving where it's headed.
Some before pictures

So it's time to sell that setup and do something that is more US!

I picked a couple things up today and I am going to be using some party props from a previous party. Need to grab a few more things and do some crafts to get it all done!
Can't wait to show y'all!

Kids Bathroom Subway Art

I shared the update we did on the kids super plain bathroom HERE a while ago.. it still isn't as finished as I would like it to be.. but I did do something to it this week that is helping!
Jen over at Tatertots and Jello does some cute subway art, I did it a little different but her ideas have sure made our kids rooms a little more fun! This is the one I did for Finnley's room a while ago.

And here are 2 of the bathroom ones, I have 1 more to do but I haven't been in to town to snag another canvas!

The colors look a little off but I picked the colors to match the rest of the stuff in the set like this..
It's got just about every color in it!

They aren't where I want them to be on the wall but I am short and can't reach so gotta wait for hubby!

Fall Cleaning Bathrooms

Like I said.. they are my least favorite!! But ignnoring them won't make me like cleaning them anymore!
Not much different from spring cleaning!

What IS different this time for me is

~getting a warm smelling candle or plug in, and

~Finally getting rid of ALL the kids bath toys.. they can use their own bath now that it's all prettied up, in case you missed it it's HERE!

~Instead of just stocking up on q tips and bandaids.. also making sure I have the right shampoo for winter and crazy staticy hair!

~I am also going to make sure we are all set for the colds and nasty bugs that come with back to school and fall/winter! We shouldn't have to do much since (knock on wood) other than strep throat for me NO ONE has been sick in our house since before the baby was born! But checking in case some have expired!

Trying to get them done by the end of this week! Just a week and half to go for me to get everything done!
Bedrooms next week!

More Fall Cleaning!

Family Room

Picture is a link to my post from last year.. I don't think much has changed!

So I'm going to work on the family room today and a little over the weekend! Then the bathrooms, not my favorite, and having 3 takes a little time, but worth it in the end! Got some new plug in's for the bathrooms, Bath and Body works wall flowers in Nectarine Mint!

Kids Bathroom Project

Before

The kids bathroom has had the least amount of attention since we moved in almost 3 years ago. No new shower curtains or anything, I planned to used the same set (Which I think is way too girly now.. but not sure what I would do instead) But didn't know what else to do in there.  The wall with nothing on it was 8 feet.. HUGE wall with nothing but 1 out of place weird (ugly) towel bar!  After thinking for a while and adding another baby to share the bathroom I thought a peg board topped beadboard style wainscotting would look good and work well!  I am planning on painting 3 canvas's solid colors ( the blue, gree and pink, 1 for each kiddo) to go above the pegs, and adding some uppercase living bathroom vinyl stickers on them. There is a toothbrush, hairbrush and soap that are not too detailed, very simple and will stand out a little I hope!  The project was fairly inexpensive and did not take too long, just lots of paint!

Spring Cleaning Bathrooms

It's my least favorite of them all, and we have 3!! Most times I am thankful we have 3.. When it comes to cleaning them, not so much!

~I start with the purging again! Towels that are past their prime, way past get sent to the rag bin. Makeup that is past the expiration date or that I haven’t used gets dumped too.
~After that I start with the shower.. We have glass shower doors and they get dirty no matter how often I scrub them! So I am starting the spray on them so they can soak. I heard some people put rain-X, like for windshields on their glass shower doors and it helps.. Not sure if I will try it yet. Something has to make it easier though!
~Start the rugs in the washer
~Scrub scrub scrub around the toilet.. I use a toothbrush (that looks NOTHING like anyone’s just to be safe) they are cheap at the Dollar Store I think it’s either a 5 or 6 pack. Vinegar and water help break down the grime.
~Once I have it pretty scrubbed I do a good once over with the portable steamer.
~After I scrub the shower with the magic eraser and get it as sparkling as it’s going to get I rinse and then use drain-o or liquid plumber to help keep the drain working well.
~Polish the cabinets
~Vacuum and steam mop before the rugs go back down!
~Check your supplies.. Q-tips, band-aids all that other first aid stuff.. You all stocked up? If not try to catch them on sale.
~I also try to avoid having to buy shampoo and all that stuff every other month. I wait until it is on sale or I have a good coupon (preferably both) and stock up so it’s a once a year or every 6 month thing.
~Now is a good time to replace toothbrushes also!
~If you keep your Towels in a stack, move the ones on the bottom to the top to make sure they are getting equal use.
~The mirrors aren’t on my spring cleaning list because I do them every week.. I think it’s easier if it doesn’t get too dirty.
~It’s not really cleaning but I usually try to get some new candles.. Something that smells fresh and springy but not too strong!

The bathroom doesn’t take that long but it sure isn’t fun.. Up next for me is bedrooms.. I don’t think my routine will change much from this one last year.

Just 9 days until Spring!!  I am hoping to be all done in the next 2 weeks so we can ENJOY Spring!
