Sparkle Party Inspiration!

I have the Party Planning bug and no plans for a party until September. I have no idea what we will be doing for our little guys birthday either. He isn't like most 3/4 year olds. We don't watch TV so he really isn't in to any characters, scared of garbage trucks and dump trucks. All those traditional 4 year old themes just are not him. Soo while I try to decide what to do for my Starbucks and Target loving boy I am checking out the party world for his little buddy. I think all 4 year old girls like glitter and sparkle.. right? Like it enough to make a party theme "Sparkly". Sure!

So when I pick a theme that isn't common,  that's not going to have a bunch of printables, or character plates and stuff. Like our little guys Lumberjack Party I like to make a list of all the basic requirements.
Cups, plates, napkins, banner, balloons and all those and think or look at ideas to make them fit my theme. There are some cute glitter ideas out there!

Just like when I clean I like to start from the top and work my way down.
Banners and Puffs/Poms/Lanterns

I can't share the banner yet but there are SO many banner ideas, and glitter can be added to anything. I am personally loving the letter style like I did for our Back to School Party

Could easily be made with glitter!
And pennant banners are always cute and easy to glitter. Just the glittered letters are easy to make, or find and match to most parties.

The tissue poms! Pretty sure there is glittered tissue paper
oh there is

Or if the lanterns are more your thing this is clever!

We almost always do basic, solid color plates/cups and sometimes pretty them up to work better for us. These cups with some added Washi Tape is SO smart, and cute and they make glittery tape!

And I personally wouldn't be putting glitter on any plates, no one wants to eat that kind of glitter.
But these are precious and just the right amount of sparkle without being expensive or hard to do!
  or

Super easy! Those stick on rhinestones are often in the $1 bin at our craft store in a ton of colors!

They do make glittery plastic silverware but it's expensive. If you like the wooden utensils I think you could glitter those lightly without them dumping too much glitter later on into your food.

Oh, balloons. I saw this and thought it was a cute idea! And also inexpensive
And you could probably add the bigger chunky glitter confetti too, or certain shapes if that matches your party better. I think I would use clear balloons and colored glitter for most of them though.

And once you have the decorations done, the food part is fun! Especially if you have a main color.
I LOVE these cake pops! Edible Glitter can make any regular treat party worthy!

And if the kids are old enough they can handle hard candies these I saw on etsy would be SOO cute!

And I was thinking you could probably add the edible glitter to your punch but went on a hunt to see if someone had tried it yet. She didn't use it in punch but jam! And it is SO pretty!
That ^ has me convinced that there needs to be a little glitter in everything!

I think I would use the washi tape again
And make some fruit kabobs but make some little flags for the end of the skewers with the tape.
and maybe glitter some beads ahead of time, this is a cute idea!

I am sure there are a million other cute ideas out there. But now that I have distracted myself from a party I REALLY need to plan for a few days I better start looking for boy stuff again!

Birthday Party Planning Already!

I swear these 2 JUST had their birthday 3 weeks ago! February is coming up quick! Last year was the LAST time for a shared party (at least for a while) it was SO hard, they are 2 years apart and finding gender neutral themes was not happening!

I am excited and nervous, 2 birthday parties to plan at the SAME time, EEEK!
Trying to start early to avoid the last minute rush!

Both kids have picked themes that will be easy to find some ideas/products if I get behind.
He chose Baseball.. but I want to do it a little vintagey
She chose Alice in Wonderland.. no red and black here!

Pinterest is FULL of great ideas for both!
I'm sure I will sharing some of the party fluff soon!

Little Lumberjack Treat Sneak!

I have a feeling these will be popular at Finn's party! Perfect combo of sweet and salty!
It was my first attempt so it's not as pretty as I want it to be but I have time to work with it, and a few VERY willing taste testers :)
Here is what I did,
took 1 of these, cut it in half ad then made my axe shape
then I used one of these and stuck it through the short end of the marshmallow
And finally, I just used some red melted Wilton Candy melts and a spoon and carefully kinda sloppily covered the marshmallow with it. Then I just let it dry!

I am a SUCKER for matching food to the party theme, even if it is a lot of work!

Little Lumberjack Party Sneak!

Since this isn't a popular theme, finding party supplies has been a challenge, a good challenge! I like that I have no choice but to make what I need! For example, a pinata. I searched everything I could think of to find a pinata to go with this theme, only thing I found were palm tree's and owls, I was afraid the owls would push it a little too much onto the "woodland" theme, not that I don't love that theme (and hope our little girl will let me do one!) but for this it just wasn't what I was looking for.

So I started thinking of how I can build one, I know the whole balloon method but I was going for a specific shape, a LOG! Here is what I have done so far

started with an empty oatmeal container
Cut a few slices in it that go about half way around, hoping that will make sure it breaks a little easier!
Then I did 1 layer of tissue paper to cover as much of the bright colors as I could. Our store didn't have any streamers, so I just used white tissue paper cut into the right length. I used some white glue and a little water with a sponge brush.
Once there was a base layer  I started crinkling up some strips and attaching them, but not making them smooth, I wanted them to resemble bark, so lots of ridges and not too straight!

And I added a little branch off the side.

I let it dry overnight, it was still pretty soft, not too crunchy, but I don't want it to be too hard for the kids so it's perfect!

Then I started painting it! And I realize now, I should have painted the strips ahead of time, it would have been easier, probably taken longer, but still easier! I'm just using some acrylic paint.
Now I am just waiting for it to dry. Then I will add some details, but you will have to wait to see that! And I have a zip tie style hanger waiting to be attached also!

On the ends I am painting them a lighter color and just using a marker for some woodgrain, well that is the plan anyway! And since one end just snaps on, I don't have to worry about how I am getting the goods in it!

I think I will have 1 more sneak peak tonight, that I am way excited about.. as long as nap time works out for me!

Sweet Owl Favors!

These might be the cutest favors I've ever seen!

They are little pillow boxes, so you can fill them with whatever you want!

I didn't follow the tutorial, I just made my own, they are just too darling to pass up, I do plan on sneaking these 2 into Finnley's party, it's not and owl theme, but they will work, but not in bright colors. Mine didn't turn out nearly as cute as the originals though.

I didn't have any patterned brown paper, so I flocked some of the circles and used the chalk ink on the edges of the others. I'd never flocked before so they don't look that great, but I like that they are kinda furry!
Check out my Pinterest Board HERE for the link and the tutorial!

Peach Party Love!

I don't know WHY I do this! But as soon as I think I am decided on a theme for a party and start to collect stuff I find another theme I would love just as much. Luckily for me, the kids don't change their mind as much as I do and original themes stay! But overnight before she had shot down the new theme, I had time to collect some ideas. Someone HAS to have a peach party, cause these are just too cute!

I like the softer look of vintage stuff with some modern stuff. I LOVE aqua and peach together! I think I would do mostly peach colored with some aqua and off white.

Buntings/Banners whatever you call them are one of my FAVORITE things! (working on a new one soon!)
I like these gingham buntings! Peach gingham and aqua floral would be perfect!

Looks like peach and aqua are popular wedding colors, check out this wedding stuff (that could be used for a birthday!)

Table decorations could be really simple, I like a combination of rustic, natural and whimsical personally.
I would for sure use these baskets, lined with some aqua fabric

I would make some of these, but peaches instead of apples, for the baskets!

I am using one of these soon, and I really am hoping I can make it myself!! I really like them, how they are kind of unexpected but natural and non girly!

There are so many cute cute cute peach things around, I wouldn't know what to put on the cake stand!  I really should just order this Wilton cupcake stand, because I could fill it with all the peach stuff!

Even though I would rather have this one from PB, it's just a bit (or a whole lot) out of my price range for a treat stand, I think it could go with any thing!

Like little cobblers in aqua ramekins!
I just love how cute these little cobblers are!

Or Mini Pies!!

I wouldn't use this ribbon obviously, but how it's packaged is just adorable!
Country Living

Peach and aqua candy is easy to find, there are so many!

paper straws are a trend I realllly hope stays popular, cause I love them, especially in a jar!

Ikea has the cutest little aqua set of mugs and a pitcher, but I think using jelly jars (or the jelly jar glasses) is still my favorite, I love how simple and country they are!

I wouldn't do pink lemonade, but peach lemonade, or peach tea, or peach smoothies or milkshakes? Yes!

Cute Peachy favors all over too!!
Peach shaped cookies!

Or these cookies

These mini jelly jars are ADORABLE.. A little peach jelly and mini loaf of bread would be too much cuteness!

with some aqua ribbon fabric!

But I think these would be my favor of choice for the younger girls, you could buy them or make them, I made some, the same process as water bottle labels, make the right size and do 1 perfect then make a bunch of copies of that 1 and cut them out.  I would use peach chapstick/lip gloss

You can make the labels say anything you want, or have a cute picture!

And these are pumpkins but could easily be made into peaches!
Martha Stewart

Hoping I can convince our smooshy she would love a Peach party, maybe in 2 years? I hope!
